It’s a Dog’s life

I am Tommy. This is my story. I used to be a cold-blooded vicious individual, proudly bringing respect to my family lineage. I am a hired gun. A mercenary. I was trained with selected individuals, hailing from different bloodlines and colour and nativity in a specialized facility, known only to a few as The Kennel. I was taught from an early age to master the art of strategic warfare and paw-to-paw combat. I gained mastery in using my senses and different body parts to achieve my aim. We used to do precise jumps from hoops, learn the scents of different explosives and narcotics and learning how to perform search and rescue missions. It was a cold, December night when the Kapoors came to the facility seeking a professional’s assistance in safeguarding their house. They were a normal upper middle class family with a kid named, Rohan. The day I entered their household I met every member and the staff of the client and did a recce of the entire place sniffing and looking for plac...

What if Religion and Education changed places in India?

With religion getting much more attention than needed and education getting way less than it deserves, India is a funny place to be in these times. However, it makes an interesting study as to what would have happened if the yin and yang of logic and divine would change their place. Moral Science would become more of science and Vedic Mathematics would encapsulate less of Mathematics than the Vedas. In that alternate universe, the child is born in the family of Maths or Geography. However, if he wishes the Constitution allows him full right to adopt Accounts or Sanskrit as his faith. And at the same time, he is taught all the tenets of Hinduism, Islam, Christianity and so on in his school and when he grows up, he chooses which religion he would major in. He even has the option to take up another religion has his minor! The best of both worlds, which though far-fetched, actually gives us a nice thing to think upon. Can one actually follow two or more religions? It would open u...

Finding Happiness

What is happiness? Is it when you listen to the clink Of the first cent born out of your sweat Or is it the feeling a mother has After her first embrace? Or is it when you share your meal Or if it is the realization that your heart can still feel In a world where everyone is trying to reach to the top Who is happy? The one that looks down all alone Does he really have something to derive? Or the one who didn't bother to end his race For he knew that to travel is better than to arrive What if you can own the world But don’t have anyone to share it with What pleasure does it bring, your making hay? Are you really happier than the one who is blessed with family, The one whose child sees him everyday Is it true happiness when you conquer every mile But are incapable of bringing, to someone’s lips, a smile Is it when you show the world your might Or when you bring, to the home of the poor, some light At the end of his conquest, Alexander...

…and a pinch of common sense

…and a pinch of common salt sense Sometimes I wonder, is it such a big deal to use common sense. Yes, the common sense part maybe a big thing to ask in a world where reality shows get more votes than elections. But then, at least civic sense is not such a big deal to ask for. ‘India is a country where everyone is in a hurry, however only few reach on time.’ Why is it so tough for citizens to follow a simple decorum on roads? Why is it being accommodating is so tough an attribute to show on road? Blinking correct indicator or showing appropriate gestures while turning or changing lanes is not a fashion we generally follow. Nor do we care a wee bit when parking on the road or extending merchandise outside the shops to push a three lane road into being a single lane one. And we don’t even stop at this. In that minimized motorable strip of asphalt there are a few John Abrahams whose driving skills would make Salazar Slytherin a very happy man for the serpentine tracks their bi...
